Doctor of Chinese Medicine
Dr. Danielle Baert is a Registered Acupuncturist with the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA) and a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCMD). Prior to studying acupuncture at the Calgary College of TCM and Acupuncture (CCTCMA), she spent five years apprenticing with well-known fourth generation TCM herbalist Dr. Lin Liu in Winnipeg. She was also mentored by respected acupuncturist Dr. Zhaocheng Han, and recently she has been learning scalp acupuncture from the venerable master Dr. Mingqing Zhu. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Manitoba and worked for many years as a professional engineer.
Dr. Baert treats a broad range of symptoms and conditions using a combination of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, fire cupping, and moxibustion. She is a skilled Chinese herbalist and has a pharmacy of over 200 unique ingredients, administered in powdered form for quick and easy preparation.
Dr. Baert specializes in treating both acute and chronic pain, caused by anything and everything. “I often treat people who have had severe chronic back or neck pain for 20 years, but I also treat people who are doubled over from acute lower back pain. I have patients that walk in with a migraine and walk out pain-free. Same with menstrual cramps. So the cause of the pain doesn’t matter and the relief is not just temporary. It’s a common misconception that the pain relief from acupuncture is short-lived. I am always working on the root of why you have pain and the effect of treatment accumulates so that the result becomes long-lasting.”
In addition to treating pain, Dr. Baert also treats all kinds of digestive, gynecological and urinary issues, as well as mood problems like anxiety, depression or just being stressed out. She also treats insomnia, fatigue and body temperature issues like night sweats, hot flashes, or just being too cold or too hot all the time.
Lifestyle guidance is also a part of every treatment. Dr. Baert says, “Most people are doing something that is aggravating their symptoms that they are not aware of, like drinking a cold smoothie for breakfast every morning even though they’re always cold. Figuring this out is often the key to solving the puzzle and reducing the amount of treatment you’ll need in order to fully recover.”
