Here at Alberta Back and Neck Rehab & Sports Injuries Clinic, we offer massage therapy sessions. Massage therapy offers many benefits for your physical, mental, and emotional health. But not many people are familiar with massage therapy. We answer some of the most frequently asked questions about massage therapy below! Calgary clients have asked:
What are the benefits of massage therapy?
There are numerous benefits to massage therapy including simple pain relief, increased blood circulation, and stress reduction. It can also promote faster healing in strained muscles or sprained ligaments, enhance athletic performance, improve our ability to monitor stress signals, lessen anxiety, and alleviate depression.
Who can receive massage therapy?
Massage therapy is appropriate for people of all ages, from infants to the elderly. There are many different types of massage that can be adapted to fit your specific needs. However, certain conditions may prevent you from participating in massage therapy. Our qualified massage therapist in Calgary is well trained to recognize these cases and advise you accordingly.
How long does a massage therapy session last?
A massage session can last anywhere between 45 minutes to 1 hour to 1 ½ hour depending on what you and the massage therapist have agreed upon. The numbers of sessions you attend also depend on what you need for your health. Talk with our massage therapist to see what’s best for you.
What can I expect from my first massage therapy appointment?
During your first appointment, you will be asked to fill out a health history form. We recommend arriving a little early to your appointment in order to complete the form thoroughly. The massage therapist may also ask you several questions about your health and perform a physical/movement test in order to determine the right type of massage techniques that work best for your situation.
