Jaw Problems & Pain Relieved with Chiropractic Care

The medical name for the jaw is the tempo-mandibular joint (TMJ).It is made up of the small ball on the end of the lower part of the jaw, and the elongated socket at the back of your upper jaw, in your skull, just in front of your ear. There is a cartilaginous disc between the two bones that is held in place by muscles, which move the cartilage as the jaw opens and closes. Jaw pain is known as tempro-mandibular joint pain- dysfunction syndrome (TMJ-PDS), because the pain is a result of dysfunction or injury of the TMJ. TMJ-PDS is pain, clicking, tightness and/or abnormal movement of the jaw.
